B.O.A is one of the honorable mentioned projects in Arch Out Loud — Tokyo Vertical Cemetery 2017. The design approach is merging the spiritual part of the traditional funeral with the practicality of the modern way. This is conveyed through the ritualistic symbolic modernized program.
In order to make an intimate visual connection between the live city and death; a flip is in order. The project's vital parts (Wake, Funeral and Cremation) will be rooted under the soil turning the entire entity upside down.
The ashes will stay in the erected urned columns for seven days, until transferred into the roots of the centered Bodhi tree to help the human spirit reach Buddhahood.
